This preschool counting activity is a great way to get your preschoolers (or any young children!) excited about math and ready to work on their counting skills.
One of the most challenging parts of counting activities for preschoolers is moving from the skill of rote counting (verbally counting the numbers) to a concrete understanding of numbers.
This hands counting activity brings the skill of counting 1 to 10 to life for preschoolers. After all, what preschooler doesn’t love going to the park and watching the ducks swim in the pond!
This is the perfect activity for developing number sense! Your students will be developing their counting skills while gaining an understanding of what the number actually looks like! Each Google Slide displays a sentence presenting the number in word form, as well as displaying the numeral at the bottom of the screen.
Preschoolers will begin to make connections between the visual representation of the number, the word form, and the numeral form, all while playing a simple counting game!
While your preschooler is practicing counting they will also be working on developing their fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination by moving each duck into the pond as they count.
