The slides keep kids engaged while they click and drag the words into the correct spots on each slide. Your young learner will also use visual discrimination skills to tell the differences between each stage. You need to really focus on detail to tell the difference between a froglet and an adult frog! The slideshow is a great way for children to learn all about frogs!

How do I use the Life Cycle of a Frog Reading Activity?

Before working on any sides, make a copy. Click on File which can be found on the top left hand side of the slide show. Scroll down and click make a copy. You now have a copy of the slideshow!

Next, rename the slideshow. This will make it easy for you to locate it in your files.To rename the slide show, click on the title “copy of frog life cycle”. Type in a new appropriate title that you can find and easily remember!

Your learner should click on the first slide. Next, click and drag the frog life cycle for kids vocabulary words into the appropriate boxes on each slide. Depending on your students reading level, you may want to help your child read the words on each slide.

Once words are dragged into the correct boxes, you can discuss and assess whether the answers were placed correctly.

Don’t forget to keep talking about all of the new vocabulary! Repetition is key for young learners. The more your child hears and says the words, the better!

Click on the next slide. Repeat the same process.

Continue clicking and dragging until all vocabulary words have been accurately placed.

How else can I use these slides?

The Google Slides can be used as an introduction to the frog life cycle. Describe each stage.

Encourage your child to visually discriminate between each picture and to identify similarities and differences on each slide. Make sure to have your child explain and define the vocabulary words. The more they say it, the more they will retain it!

The slideshow can also be used as a summative assessment. You may still want to read each word on the slide to help the emergent reader, but be sure to observe as your child demonstrates his/her mastery of the skill.

Print the slides after your child has dragged the words into the correct boxes. Sequence the pages to create a book.

Have your child orally describe the stages on each slide.

Print the slides without moving the vocabulary words. Have your child write the correct words on each slide.
